In the past couple decades, Unicorns have been associated with the 'ideal women' unattainable and not real, just as the mythical creatures described my the Marriam Dictionary. '
Urban Dictionary describes a 'Unicorn' as....
That girl that you can't catch. Everything about her is so perfect (divine, if you will) getting with her is unfathomable. She is truly a blessing from God. Bumping into her on the sidewalk is a good day. Holding a conversation with her... you were probably dreaming. Anything beyond that - good luck. It takes time, effort, and a whole lot of persistency. But never give up; unicorns are said to be "uncatchable," but nothing is impossible. Impossible is nothing. Under no circumstances, never ever, not ever, at no time, should you ever marry a girl who is not your unicorn... Unless you have some super square wheels, then you should look up the word "Swamp Donkey." Everyone has a unicorn; it's just a matter of spotting her and tracking her down. Give it time, it will happen. "For destiny grants us our wishes, but in its own way, in order to give us something beyond our wishes." .
I discovered a stash of Readers Digest "Quotable Quotes" from 1988 that my Mother tore from the booklet that must have meant something to her. See, she died in 1998, when I just turned 19 years old. She was 45. I gathered, and continue to, find every piece of evidence to get to know this woman that was my Mother. I was just a young lady, not able to understand or even want to know who this person was. When I found the 'lost documents' of times gone by, I ask, 'why did find this important enough to save?' So... together we are going to go back to 1987 and 1988., We are to rediscover, analyze, and learn from the past what made the pages of the most popular book at the time, The Readers Digest. The Readers Digest was your TV guide, Cosmopolitan, Times Weekly, all in one. It is exactly the time capsule to study. So why did I choose Unicorn for this conversation blog? Take a look at the picture of my grandmother at the top. Take a look at your Mother, Sister, Girlfriends, and Daughters, we are all Unicorns. The treasure chest of torn out articles and quotes will help all of us understand our Mothers, Grandmothers, and the world they lived in. In 2019, we scream ME TOO, we request change, but our Grandmothers and Mothers did not live in the same world. It Is just as important to remember the world that they lived in.
Our mission is to embrace the past, learning from history, and rekindling the fire of those before us and pondering how it was to be them.
In this article, Bill Cosby, Michael Jackson, Charles Schultz, Eddie Murphy, Bruce Springsteen, Madona, Whitney Houston, Steven Speilberg, Sylvester Stallone, and Johnny Carson are the focus. They are celebraated as influencers and leaders.
